Compass Environmental Solutions, LLC (COMPASS) is a multi-discipline, environmental consulting firm with a permanent core staff of senior level scientists and an experienced support staff, with 12 employees across the state of Texas.
COMPASS’s Corporate Headquarters is in Rosenberg, Texas and supports an environmental focus of the gulf coast region. This office provides services in ecology, wetlands, vegetation, and marine biology as they often relate to coastal environmental permitting. COMPASS is led by Mr. Matthew Chastain, PWS and Mr. Andrew Boswell as Principals/Owners and has two Senior Project Managers, 2 Project Managers, six environmental technicians, and one office manager, for a total of 12 staff members.
Our office is heavily involved with environmental support for private entities and developers, local engineering firms, oil and gas clients, as well as state and federal agencies. This support is necessitated by Section 404 and 401 of the Clean Water Act (CWA), Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. COMPASS has gained the experience and acknowledged skills to possess active federal and state scientific collection permits needed to investigate local flora and fauna including threatened and/or endangered species.
This recognized experience often leads to project work conducted directly for the local state and federal agencies to assist with their own projects. As a result, this professional respect often translates to familiar work products and personal familiarity when environmental permitting and support is required.
COMPASS staff have worked with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) on over 750 projects along the Gulf Coast: including commercial shipping terminal projects, mitigation, residential housing projects, commercial building projects, banks, oil and gas production and transmission, as well as threatened and endangered species assessments and monitoring.
